here's the latest

The world's largest floor shuffleboard facility is opening soon right here in Scott's Addition! RVAx members can view a sneak peek here inside the space before it opens at the end of this month. I had the opportunity to tour Tang & Biscuit yesterday with Gary Chadwick, Chief Operating Officer, previously the vice president and general manager of Kings Dominion. His vibrant imagination is certainly coming to life in this space with life-size Battleship and life-size Yahtzee (using a massive PBR can as the shaker) as just a few of the interactive social games available at Tang & Biscuit. The facility features 10 shuffleboard courts, a 50-foot bar, a casual dining area, two lounge areas, and a private event space. Guests will have the ability to order food and drinks directly from their phone or any of the court attendants floating around with iPads as well as at the bar and food counter. Steve Gallagher, Owner, really wanted to focus on community and bringing people together so he put careful thought into the overall user experience at Tang & Biscuit. Expect to see accommodating customer service, several community tables, and plenty of games in addition to shuffleboard. We'll keep you posted on the grand opening date! Located behind The Dairy Bar in, you guessed it, Scott's Addition.

Nacho Mamas, Starlite, and Continental Divide are all closing within the next few weeks. Carytown Burger & Fries has purchased the Nacho Mamas building and plans to open mid-September. They will keep the house margarita and wings on the menu as homage to Nacho Mamas, who occupied the space for 22 years. (Source: BizSense).  Continental Divide, which has been in the Fan for 4 years, claims they are looking to open in a new space but it's unclear when that may happen. Hurry up and get your fill of their red hot blues before September 1! What do you think will fill this space next? Lastly, mark your calendar for a big party at Starlite on or around September 1 for the final hurrah as they close their doors after 16 years. The owners of Lunch and Supper will be taking over the space and based on this article, we suspect the new place will be named Brunch. We shall see!

Bingo is getting very close to opening and it looks like their Insta is live! To recap, Bingo is the new brewery, restaurant, and arcade opening at 2900 W Broad St in Scott's Addition. We *may* have gotten a small peek of the building plans and OMG it's impressive! The space is huge, divided into 3 distinguishable sections and while the menu has not yet been published, we are certain the offerings are going to be tasty considering the source. So many things to experience in Richmond, so little time!

experiences this week

Fire, Flour, & Fork is the biggest annual food event in Richmond and tickets go on sale today at 10am for the weekend-long event Nov 1-4.  Consisting of a series of intimate events over the course of four days, average ticket pricing is around $50 to $125 with bundle packages available. While it may seem a bit pricey, this is the fifth year of Fire, Flour, & Fork and the event is highly spoken of in the inner circles of Richmond's foodies. Take a look and see if any particular event strikes your eye (and by eye I mean stomach).

Flowers After 5 hosted by Lewis Ginter is the perfect way to ease into the weekend! Every Thursday through September from 5pm to 9pm you can stroll through the gardens, enjoy live music, wine and beer, dining, and shopping. Pack blankets and lawn chairs to relax on the beautiful garden grounds. Mark your calendar because Lewis Ginter is partnering with the Richmond SPCA to allow leashed dogs for Fidos After 5 on Thursday 8/23 and Thursday 9/13!
