Maymont

This massive park has several sledding spots to choose from, including the hill near Maymont Mansion as well as the hill near the Maymont Farm.

However, the folks at Maymont have to clear their roadways before visitors can get their sled on, so be sure to check their website or social media channels to confirm they’re ready to go before you head out in your snow gear.

Powhatan Hill Park

Located in Fulton Hill, this park is also home to Powhatan Playground and the Powhatan Community Center. But in winter, this hill right above Gillies Creek is the main attraction for sledding enthusiasts of all ages.

It’s also conveniently located near Triple Crossing Fulton, so you could swing by to snag a pint of craft beer or a pizza to warm up after you’re done in the snow.

Chimborazo Park

The hills that lead down to the Church Hill Dog Park (located on the eastern lower terrace of Chimborazo Park) are perfect for family-friendly sledding — nothing too steep, and plenty of room to spread out away from other sledders.

Libby Hill

Thrill-seekers, this one’s for you! The steep incline at Libby Hill Park is perched pretty high up above the city, so be prepared to fly down the hill pretty darn fast (and get a leg workout in on your walk back up to the top each time).

Address: 2801 E Franklin St (Church Hill)

Byrd Park

You can either take the gentle hill down (near Swan Lake) or head to fan-favorite local spot Reservoir Hill for some “real deal” sledding. Plus, you can wander around and marvel at the winter wonderland after you’re done, sneaking peeks at snowy Dogwood Dell, the Carillon, and more.
