General Tips

LOGGING IN TO SQUARESPACE

In your browser, type in your website URL and press the ESC key. Type in your email and password credentials and log in. Alternatively, you can always visit Squarespace.com and hit the log in button in the top right.

DASHBOARD

All of the tools you need to edit your website live within the dashboard list on the left. To adjust the content of your website, click on PAGES. For general settings, click on SETTINGS. We've set the styles of your site in our design process. If you need to adjust style settings, click on design DESIGN.

Linked Pages - Key areas of your website that you may want to edit or update over time are highlighted here.

Non-Linked Pages - Key areas of your website that you may want to edit or update over time are highlighted here. Non-linked pages are areas of your website that are available to the user but do not appear in the main navigation.

IMAGES

Images are one the easiest ways to update your site and make it look fresh. Here are some of the most common image tutorials you may need:

How to add a blog post

Click the gear icon to the right of the page you wish to change a header image.

  1. Head to your RVAx Blog page. Blog pages are shown with an A icon in front.

  2. Select the TEMPLATE post and hit Duplicate.

  3. You will now be able to edit your title, excerpt, tag/categories in the CONTENT window. You can add your thumbnail image in the OPTIONS window. Hit Save.

  4. To edit in full page mode, hover over the post and click the edit button. Use spacers, add images and any other text or elements to make the post perrfecctt!

How to add a calendar event

  1. Go to the event calendar page. The page will have a calendar icon.

  2. Select the + button to add new event.

  3. In the CONTENT window add the title, description, dates and categories.

  4. In the OPTIONS window, add the thumbnail image and the excerpt.

  5. Hit save for a draft version to continue working on later or if finished hit save + publish.

 

 

How to add a member perk

  1. Find the Member Perks blog page. Blog pages are shown with an A icon in front.

  2. Select the + button to add new post.

  3. Type in title, add description, images and the category in the CONTENT window.

  4. Add thumbnail image, excerpt and website URL link under the OPTIONS window.

  5. Save!

How to edit text within a code block

  1. In editor mode you will run into Code text blocks.

  2. Hover over and select Edit.

  3. You can edit the text elements which are shown in black color.

  4. Edit as you wish then select Apply.

  5. Save page after you finish editing.

How to add Richmond 50 logo

  1. Find the Richmond 50 Logos gallery in the unlinked section of Pages.

  2. Either drag or select + to add a new image.

  3. Select the gear icon to adjust title and description in the CONTENT window.

  4. In the LOCATION window you can the company’s website link making the image clickable.

  5. Hit Save.

How to add a testimonial

  1. Go to the Testimonial blog page. Blog pages are shown with an A icon in front.

  2. Select the + icon to add new quote.

  3. This one is a little tricky, NO NOT type anything the in the CONTENT section.

  4. Instead, you will go over to the OPTIONS window and place the whole testimonial in the excerpt box. Add person who made statement at the end.

  5. Hit Save and Publish.

How to add button on links page

  1. Find the Links page in the unlinked section of Pages.

  2. Hover over the page until you can select the EDIT button.

  3. Once in editor mode, hover where you would like to place the new link. You will be a gray tear-drop shape, select and choose button.

  4. Adjust the button title, size and then add the URL to where the user should be taken.

  5. Select Apply. Then Save in editor mode at the top left corner.

How to add a new category page under EXPLORE tab

  1. To add a new link in the dropdown menu under Explore, go to the Explore folder in the pages section.

  2. Within the section select the + Add Page button and select the Link option.

  3. Type in title and add URL.

  4. Hit Save.

How to add / edit images at the bottom of member home page

  1. Drag or select the + to add new image.

  2. Click the gear icon to edit the title, description or tag.

  3. Hit save and see your new image in the gallery.

  4. You can also move the images order around by hovering over an image, selecting and moving to desired location.

Help! Squarespace is slow, glitchy, or not working!

It happens! But have no fear, please bookmark and check out the Squarespace Help Twitter feed for updates on server outages and what the team is doing to fix the issue at hand. Server disruptions typically last no more than 30 minutes.
