Building Connections: How STEM and LEGO Strengthen Family Bonds

  • Science Musuem of Virginia 2500 West Broad Street Richmond, VA, 23220 United States (map)

That’s the experience of Richmond natives Benjamin Edlavitch and David “Poppy” Levine, the first grandparent and grandchild team featured on the LEGO Masters competition show. The duo’s shared passion for LEGO building brought together their interests in architecture and engineering.

At our May 22 Sunrise Science, Edlavitch and Levine will share their journey in constructing—from LEGO creations to model cars and beyond—and explain how their hobbies strengthened their family bond. Their presentation will explore how LEGO has inspired their creativity and problem-solving approaches, and they’ll discuss its potential as a powerful tool to educate and inspire the next generation of builders and creators. Of course, the dynamic duo will also highlight the many impressive LEGO designs they’ve created over the years!
