VMFA welcomes sitar maestro Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan to the Marble Hall for an evening of classical Indian music. Shahid Parvez’s visit coincides with the exhibition Ragamalas: Picturing Music & Emotion, which fills two of VMFA’s South Asian Art galleries with paintings and music. The paintings come from ragamalas, sets of pictures that depict musical structures called ragas, personifying them as heroes and heroines in romantic or devotional settings.
