Visual Arts Center of Richmond

Take a multi-week class and learn or refine a new skill, take an intensive class over the course of one day or weekend, pop in for a single open figure drawing class, or slide by for their Second Friday art samplers. The options are endless at VisArts, a nonprofit helping children and adults explore their creativity. Classes include wheel throwing, drawing, painting, knitting, photography, intro to interior design, and so much more.

Scrap RVA

SCRAP is a donation-based creative reuse (aka upcycling or reurposing) store and donation center. All of the items in their store have been donated by other members of the community. In addition to offering these supplies at a half or third of the typical cost, they also offer art classes each month. Sewing, card making, and jewelry revamping are just a few of the classes offered for just $10-$15!

Studio Two Three

This art incubator hosts classes and workshops among their artist residency. With a darkroom, coworking space, printing presses, a digital lab, and more, there is plenty to create! Their classes are open to the community and include screen printing, printmaking, etching, textiles, and more. Book about three days in advance at least and get ready to make something you love!

Crossroads Art Center

At Crossroads you’ll find over 25,000 square feet of gallery space featuring works of art from established and emerging mid-Atlantic artists. You’ll also find classes and workshops available to the community including classes designed for kids and teens! Most of their offerings are multi-week courses but you can check their site for workshop pop ups. They also offer open studio time if you already have a project underway and just need some space and creative energy to move it forward.

Hand/Thrown

From novice to experienced, Hand/Thrown welcomes you into their space to build community and create art. Their classes run for four weeks or more and range from beginners to intermediate.
