ASHLAND FOURTH FRIDAYS

Historic downtown Ashland is set to host an exceptional evening of music, community spirit, and Virginia Pride as the final Ashland Fourth Fridays of the summer season approaches. The celebration, taking place on September 27 from 5-8 PM, will feature the award-winning teen musician Ginny Ray, who has been named the Ashland Song Contest winner.

Born and raised in Ashland, affectionately known as the Center of the Universe, Ginny Ray will perform her original song, which will soon be recorded by Free Jambalaya and streamed across major platforms. Attendees will have the rare opportunity to see her perform live at the Ashland Fourth Fridays on September 27.

**An Evening of Dynamic Entertainment**

The festivities will commence at 5 PM with Ginny Ray resenting her award-winning song, with additional performances from other talented finalists of the Ashland Song Contest, each offering their unique, Center of the Universe-themed creations. The night will also feature The Sweet Potatoes, a jazz quartet known for their inventive interpretations and soulful performances.

Following the Ashland Song Contest, watch captivating dance performances by the Ashland Dance Academy at the Ashland Town Hall Pavilion. The evening will showcase a range of dance styles from ballet to hip-hop and musical theatre.

**Celebrating Virginia Pride with TransJam Events**

The event will also serve as a significant celebration of Virginia Pride, thanks to TransJam Events. This trans-led organization is bringing together 16 vendors to offer a range of goods and services, from homemade treats and original art to tarot readings. Attendees are encouraged to dress in rainbow colors and show their pride as the community comes together in a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere.

**Delicious Bites and Unique Finds**

Guests can explore an eclectic selection of vendors around Ashland Town Hall and 110 Thompson Street, including Moniques Crepes with their sweet and savory offerings, and Bikini Panini with Mediterranean-inspired sandwiches. A photo opportunity with special guests like Bluey, Princess Belle, and Queen Elsa will be available at 110 Thompson Street. Free popcorn and cotton candy will also be provided by the Ashland Dance Academy.

**Art, Entertainment, and Community Spirit**

In addition to the musical and dance entertainment, visitors can enjoy artistic displays such as KandiMan’s soft sculptures and Immagine LLC’s art. Free to Read will be hosting a book giveaway, and guests can engage in immersive games with RED VEIN Escape or explore Ashland’s history with the Ashland Haunted History Tours. Local restaurants and shops will remain open late, offering a variety of farm-to-fork feasts and curated art and housewares.
