Spend Your Next Color Walk at One of These Pocket Parks
If you’re looking for a new way to spend your next color walk, head to The Fan. The neighborhood is a hot spot for some of Richmond’s best food, drinks, art, and history, but it’s also Richmond’s home to a handful of teeny-tiny pocket parks that are full of personality.
Meadow Park
We love it when great spots are near other great spots. For that reason especially, we love Meadow Park given its proximity to Garnett’s Cafe, where you can pop in for a literal picnic basket and blanket (!!) to carry your to-go order as you walk a few feet over to your chosen grassy space to chow down.
Location: 401 N Meadow St
Lombardy & Park Avenue Triangle
This spot is playground-forward, featuring playsets, a sand pit, and donated toys for little ones to enjoy in a mostly-shady triangle area — situated right across the street from Kuba Kuba, in case you’re going around lunchtime.
Location: 347 N Lombardy St
Scuffletown Park
Possibly the most beloved pocket park in the area (we can tell by how loud the “Shhh!” is when we bring it up) is Scuffletown Park. But come on, it’s on the map! The space offers plenty of seating — benches and tables — for you to enjoy your coffee, lunch, or book; a community garden; and a Little Free Library. You’re welcome for the rec… but, you know, don’t mention it.
Location: 418 Strawberry St
Sydney Park
This particularly teensy spot has benches and the added bonus of living right next to Blanchard’s Morris St location. As the coffee shop says itself, “order a drink and enjoy our patio and the park next door.” We couldn’t recommend a better order of operations.
Location: 26 N Morris St
Paradise Park
When you’re really looking to knock out all the colors of the rainbow on your walk, try Paradise Park. The space features a cutie collection of colorful shapes, a sandy space, and donated toys galore. Plus, there are benches dotted throughout if you need a bonafide place to pop a squat while you look around and enjoy.
