RICHMONDER TO KNOW
Eliad Gebrehiwot & Tom Ellington: Head Distiller and Director of Sales and Marketing at Cirrus Vodka, respectively. This dynamic duo brings award-winning, premium, triple-distilled potato vodka to Richmonders, delicious whether you’re mixing it up or sipping it straight.
Have you visited Cirrus Vodka IRL recently? Their Scott’s Addition-adjacent tasting room has been transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with seasonal cocktails like the “Hot Girl Xmas” and “Santa Clausmopolitan.” Bonus: Their patio is covered, heated, merry, and bright.
Keep scrolling for RVA’s latest social news, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day plans, New Year’s Eve recommendations, a new brewpub now open in Southside, the just-opened Scott’s Addition marketplace where we’ll be grocery shopping from now on, and more.
THE LATEST:
FOOD & DRINK
Three cheers for Southside beers: A third Triple Crossing Beer location officially opened its doors on Monday at 1101 Winterfield Crossing in Midlothian. Holiday hours can be found here if you want to check it out over the break! (Triple Crossing Beer)
Just what Scott’s Addition has been waiting for: The folks behind Northside Gourmet Market have officially opened a second marketplace at The Summit at 3022 W Broad St with a full selection of local craft beer, groceries, and all the snacks your heart desires. (Instagram)
Imagine all of your favorite food trucks and pop-ups in one place: That’s pretty much what’s coming in January 2022 when the Hatch Local food hall officially opens its doors at 400 Hull St in Manchester. We can look forward to a coffee bar, full-service bar, curated market, event space, and outdoor dining ft. seven local vendors: Buttermilk + Honey, Oro, Sincero, Royal Pig, Fat Kid Sandwiches, Odyssey Fish, and The Beet Box. Like a food court, but fancier—and with way better food. (Hatch Local)
Also coming in 2022: A Chewy’s Bagels storefront 3138 W Cary St. in Carytown, with even more new bagel flavors. Who’s hungry? (Instagram)
HAPPENINGS
Operation Silent Night: The grand finale of Operation Silent Night, Richmond Animal League’s annual winter pet adoption event, is the 2021 Luminary Ceremony! This free event will be held tonight (Wednesday, December 22) outside of the RAL Adoption Center at 11401 International Dr beginning at 5:30 pm with cookies and hot cocoa, then a luminary ceremony at 6 pm to honor pets who have found homes this holiday season, in addition to remembering lost pets who remain dear to us. (Richmond Animal League)
Christmas Eve Extravaganza in Scott’s Addition: If you’ll be in town for the holidays this weekend, you can spend your Christmas Eve at Black Heath Meadery at 1313 Altamont Ave listening to local musical artists Debra and Patrick, who will be bringing their signature warming energy and the sounds of the Florida Keys for a happy, cozy celebration. Bartenders Bill and Jayne will be slinging mead for this holiday event from 1 - 7 pm. (Facebook)
Christmas Day in Shockoe Bottom: Now, in terms of Christmas Day on Saturday, you can plan to spend the latter portion of the holiday listening to all the pop-punk and emo music your heart desires at the Taking Back Xmas show, happening at 9 pm in Shockoe Bottom at Fallout RVA, located at 117 N 18th St. No cover required—a Christmas miracle. (Facebook)
Looking ahead: Mark your calendars for Saturday, January 22 when popular event series Profs & Pints will make its official RVA debut in Jackson Ward at Gallery5, located at 200 W Marshall St with Professor Michelle Brock of Washington and Lee University. A historian whose research has focused heavily on witch hunts and demonology, Dr. Brock will take her audience on a scholarly journey through time to explore the history and impact of belief in the devil. Her talk, “Speak of the Devil,” is almost sure to sell out—you can snag your tickets here for $12 in advance, or get them for $15 at the door. (Profs & Pints)
