The Trendspotter: April 2025
We’re back again with your monthly dose of must-know news, The Trendspotter! This content series features monthly roundups of the newest and hottest businesses (namely, restaurants, bars, and then some!) around RVA.
It’s another season of newness in the River City, and with a juice bar, cat cafe, and more popping up around town, things are really flourishing this month.
The Beet Box
What it is: A second location for one of Richmonders’ fave spots for a fruits-and-veggies fix
Why we love it: The Beet Box has had a successful biz since 2020, and now the juice and smoothie bar is offering its healthy options — from wraps to acai and smoothie bowls — in another casual setting in the East End. Grab something delish as you stroll the neighborhood on a nice spring day.
Where to find it: 2400 Jefferson Ave (Union Hill)
C&P Baking Company
What it is: A new bakeshop to look for Downtown
Why we love it: The spot highlights owner Sherwin Pilley’s classical pastry-making training and her Haitian heritage with French patisserie and Haitian cuisine. Everything looks delish, but we’re especially zeroing in on the stuffed croissant and strawberry lemon cake on our next visits.
Where to find it: 1717 E Franklin St (Shockoe Bottom)
Cosmic Cookies
What it is: Where to get a sweet treat late into the night
Why we love it: This cookie shop’s hours are 9 pm to 3 am on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, so when you’re working on that late-night deadline or just need something particularly yummy during the wee hours of the night, order up something for delivery like the Supernova Four — “a flavor explosion in every bite of this deluxe four pack” of your cookie choices.
Where to find it: 2812 W Broad St (Scott’s Addition)
Cirrus Vodka
What it is: Cirrus Vodka’s highly anticipated new set-up coming to the Ballast space in Scott’s Addition
Why we love it: As you know by now, we’re major fans of anything Cirrus does, so we’re especially excited for this project to wrap up its finishing touches and debut the new swanky space made for a more elevated cocktail-sipping experience. Want to hear other deets about it while you wait to get in? Hear from Cirrus Vodka Sales & Marketing Director Tom Ellington on Ep 20 of our pod, The Chatter.
Where to find it: 1320 Summit Ave (Scott’s Addition)
The Purrfect Bean
What it is: A cafe coming to town that’s bringing us warm and fuzzy feelings, too
Why we love it: The Purrfect Bean will not only serve sips from Afterglow Coffee Cooperative and The Spice & Tea Exchange of Richmond, it will *also* partner with Purring Hearts VA to bring adoptable cats to the situation, supporting its overall establishment as a bonafide cat cafe.
Where to find it: 214 N Lombardy St (The Fan)
