The Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games start this Friday, July 26, and you’re not alone: We’ve been practicing our Biles-inspired ending poses in the mirror, too. And if you want to channel the GOAT(s) even more, we’ve got a few rec centers in the area that’ll help you do just that.

Gymnastics

Launch Family Entertainment


If you need just a little spotting for your triple-twisting double-tucked salto backwards, Launch Family Entertainment could be a great place to get it. The indoor park features multiple trampoline courts, giving you plenty of space to practice your Olympic-hopeful moves.

Have little ones in tow? Take them to jump around during Toddler Time; from 10 am to 12 pm on Saturdays, kids — ages 5 and under — have the place to themselves.

Swimming

Collegiate School Aquatics Center


The Olympics are literally a part of this spot’s history. SwimRVA’s indoor 50-meter competition pool was used in the 2008 Olympic Trials, during which nine world records and 21 American records were broken. Give one of Katie Ledecky’s times a go, or just enjoy a leisurely workout. Listen to your bod, you know?

Track & Field

Cary Street Gym


Complete with a three-lane indoor track, a fitness mezzanine featuring a variety of cardio equipment, the Cary Street Field, and equipment rental options, this downtown gym is a great place to train like Virginia high school graduate Noah-Lyles. Richmond residents and VCU associates alike can snag various memberships.

Richmond Volleyball Club


Says this local nonprofit itself, “Whether you’re looking to play, compete, grow, or just connect with friends, new and old, over volleyball and happy hours,” Richmond Volleyball Club has a space for you. Membership to the club makes you eligible to play on any adult league team and gets you access to a Skill Clinics discount, special pricing for private lessons, and Open Gyms hours plus the on-site weight room at Byrdhill.

Skateboarding

Southside Community Center Skate Park


Olympic Skateboarding and the Southside Community Center Skate Park have newness in common — skateboarding was just added to the Olympics at the Tokyo Games, and this Richmond skate park celebrated its second birthday earlier this year. Channel your inner Jagger Eaton and enjoy a sunny day atop some of the recent $2.5 mil renovations on Warwick Rd.
