Ruff Canine Club

Ruff Canine Club is truly one of our favorite spots in town — we’d go even if we didn’t have pups. This social club is part bar, part dog park, and a whole lot of fluffy fun. There are local brews and snacks for you to enjoy while your doggo and all his or her new friends run a muck. Whether you’re a seasoned member or just looking for a place Rover can romp and roll around occasionally, Ruff offers annual, monthly, and daily pass options.

Location: 1924 Ellen Rd (The Diamond District)

Salty Paws

RVA’s first for-the-dogs ice cream bar and bakery, Salty Paws, serves lactose-free, dog-friendly ice cream flavored like bacon, cheddar cheese, peanut butter, and then some, and topped with (if your pup so chooses) dehydrated chicken, beef, and then some more. A pup cup runs anywhere between $5 and $7 (with $1 toppings to add), and we don’t even know your good boy or girl but we do know he or she def deserves a treat right NOW.

Location: 2436 Old Brick Rd (Glen Allen)

Dogma Grooming + Pet Needs | 3501 W Cary St (Carytown)

Dr. Evan’s House Calls

If your pet is especially antsy when it comes to vet visits (lookin’ at you, my cat) or, say, he or she is enjoying the senior years of life, Dr. Evan and crew can come to you. Dr. Evan’s House Calls offers routine wellness services and sick or urgent care visits, all from the comfort of you and your pet’s home.

River City Veterinary Hospital

The RVAx team’s furry friends are patients here, and we can’t recommend it enough! The vets and supporting staff are extremely kind, the waiting area and rooms are calming and clean, and it’s always easy to get in touch with someone outside of your appointment window, too.

Location: 5220 W Broad St (Willow Lawn)

Short Pump Animal Hospital

If you’re outside of Richmond City, Short Pump Animal Hospital is another highly recommended vet to bring your pets for well or sick visits. Locals say, in partic, the medical team is top-notch, the front desk is always accessible by phone, and if your pet is especially under the weather, the team here makes a point to have him or her seen quickly.

Location: 4730 Pouncey Tract Rd (Short Pump)
