RICHMONDER TO KNOW

Donnie Glass: Owner at Jardin, the new (approachable!) wine bar/restaurant/wine shop now open in The Fan, and of Grisette, a local favorite in Church Hill. We recommend adding both to the top of your “must try” list of Richmond bars and restaurants.

Jardin is one of the top new spots we featured in this month’s edition of The Trendspotter—find the rest of them here!

Keep scrolling for RVA’s latest social news, including the new bookshop-slash-wine bar opening in Shockoe Bottom, a must-see art exhibition now open in The Fan, a list of 50 of the most-loved restaurants in Richmond, and more.

THINGS TO DO

Richmond’s first bookshop/wine bar: Can you imagine a better combo?! New Black-owned, woman-owned biz The Book Bar is opening in Shockoe Bottom this February with a wide selection of reads by BIPOC authors—but you can get a sneak peek of the space by joining The Book Bar Book Club this month here. (Instagram)

Meet you at the market(s): Both GrowRVA farmers markets will return to their regularly scheduled programming this weekend—meaning, the South of the James Market is back at Forest Hill Park on Sundays from 10 am to 1 pm, and the RVA Big Market will be at Bryan Park on Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm. (Facebook)

An art exhibition you have to see: In their own words, VisArts presents Of Mud & Blood, “an exhibition that features collaborative works by Central Virginia-based ceramicists and tattoo artists… [exploring] these centuries-old crafts through various vessels, sculptures and any other form the work may take.” (Visual Arts Center of Richmond)

Laugh out loud: If you haven’t seen it yet, your homework is to watch Fortune Feimster’s comedy special SWEET & SALTY on Netflix—then, snag your tickets to see her new special, 2 SWEET 2 SALTY, at the Carpenter Theatre this Friday. (Dominion Energy Center)
