Hi, everyone!👋
We don’t know about you, but we’re WAY feeling the holiday spirit six-ish days into December. Our trees are up, we’ve baked some cookies, this wintery jam has been on repeat — we can’t get enough over here!
And we’re keeping the cozy-festive-pepperminty feels going this week for our book club meeting. Are you planning to join us? This month’s read was The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, and we’re chatting about it over snacks and cups of cheer this Weds.
But okay, enough about us. It’s time we talk about (other) plans for you.
Keep scrolling for RVA’s latest social news, including two new Carytown restaurants, where to see Santa, a day-date idea, and more.

Kristin Richardson: She’s the brains behind Sherah — as Richmond BizSense recently reported, “a membership-based service aimed at working moms who want backup to take some of the pressure off of the household duties they handle alongside their full-time careers.”
THE LATEST:
PEOPLE, PLACES, RINGS
Get your sweat on: If you’re looking for another place where you can work on your fitness, Scott’s Addition may have just the thing. CoreFitness RVA opened its doors over the weekend, and the boutique-style gym offers individual personal training and small-group personal training. Memberships start at $10 per month, and interested gym-goers can fill out an interest form on CoreFitness’s website or pop by the spot itself to learn more about the sweat seshes they offer. Get out of town — in town: European-inspired restaurant Botanya Restaurant & Bar recently opened in Carytown. The delish eatery has been on our radar since August, and we’re psyched to see it officially added to Richmond’s food scene this month. Botanya’s menu is expansive and mouth-watering (hi, Salumi e Formaggio; be right over!), and from the looks of it, we’ll be adding this spot to our regular rotation of date-night go-tos. (Botanya Restaurant & Bar)
A space for tacos and burgers: A new concept from Soul Taco is entering the chat: Sear Burger. On Insta last week, the Mexican restaurant in Jackson Ward announced the addition to its offerings. “Sear Burger is a new employee driven burger concept that celebrates amazing food and the even more amazing people that make this all possible!” The burger pop-up will live inside the Soul Taco restaurant itself, and visitors can expect a few design and menu changes at the spot over the next few weeks. (Instagram)
Summer dining plans: Burtons Grill & Bar is coming to (Cary)town this summer. The “restaurant with coastal, New England roots known for its fresh seafood, high-quality meats, and bountiful vegetables” will make Richmond its nineteenth location since starting things up in Massachusetts in 2005. But the spot’s CEO is no stranger to the River City; John Haggai has lived in RVA since 2005 and, given that, describes this opening as particularly “significant.” (Regency Centers)
Sip and shop: Sun & Selene is bringing a new shopping concept to life. The bauble bar recently launched its Personal Studio Styling Experience — “a 30-minute personalized shopping experience complete with some bubbly and a customized selection of pieces pulled just for you or your loved ones.” Start by filling out this form, letting the team know your preferred style, metal, jewelry category, and your sizing, as well as your desired appointment date and time. And if you’re shopping for someone on your holiday list while you’re there, Sun & Selene is also offering to do the wrapping for your purchases. Make a date of it with your partner or pal and grab some grub before or after you peruse. (Sun & Selene)
Santa Claus M&G: One of our fave holiday celebrations is back for another year — GBS Fest! Head to Hardywood West Creek on Saturday, December 17, for an aft of visiting and getting pics with Santa, sweet treats from Karmalita’s and Candy Valley Cake Company, food trucks, PlayRVA train rides, live music, local vendors, and more. And, of course, festive cold ones will be available all day, too. (Hardywood)
