RICHMONDER TO KNOW
Megan Lee Hopkins: She owns Celladora — the (mostly) natural wine shop in the Fan that also has room for you to sit down and pair a glass (or two) with a few snacks. When setting up shop at the beginning of 2022, Megan looked to create a spot that encouraged “discovery and discussion” around wine, rather than the stuffier feel that can sometimes overwhelm it. We can confirm from (lots of) experience: The space delivers on that comfortability factor, bright ambiance and friendly conversation included.

SOCIAL NEWS
Our house, in the middle of our street: Richmond magazine recently published a thorough af real estate guide, so if you’re in the market for a new home, add this to your TBR pile for the summer. The pub covers:
How the local housing market has changed
Top tips for negotiating the current market
Recommended Richmond-area pros to hire
And way more. (Richmond magazine)
East End will enjoy this comp-honey: We’re still mourning the loss of Anthony’s on the Hill (and its soft serve ice cream — RIP!), but there’s hope on the horizon. Honey Baked Bee is filling out the Church Hill pizza spot’s former digs. According to the East End neighborhood’s Facebook page, the bakery will focus on cookies and cinnamon rolls, and will open at the very start of September. (Facebook)
And for that reason, we’re in: Local org STEM-Ed Partners collabs with the Richmond community to support STEM thinking and education for students in kindergarten through the 12th grade, and the team is hosting a STEM Shark Tank. Registration is open now, and participants will engage in the weeklong camp to develop new innovations to present to a panel of “sharks.” The event is free to join and open to kids age 12 through 19. (STEM-Ed Partners)
Festival szn continues to heat up: After a three-year hiatus, the Richmond Jazz & Music Festival is coming back to Maymont this summer. Presented by Altria Theater, the two-day festival will feature Chaka Khan, Wale, and other big names, along with marketplace and food vendors galore. Tickets (for purchase here!) start at $120, and the party happens on August 12 and 13. (Richmond Jazz & Music Festival)
ICYMI: The latest drool-worthy concept from the Lindsey Food Group, Rams House, opened last week. The VCU-focused spot features an extensive bar with 36 craft beer taps and a food menu including pizza, wings, sliders, and other bar food options. We snagged the Fried Pickles, Chopped Wedge, and Black Castle Sliders when we visited, and we highly recommend. (Instagram)
