HI!
Yes, the rumors are true — I, Kelsey, have already finished this month’s book club pick. I know! You must be wondering if this’ll go straight to my head, if I’ll suddenly start finishing all the book club picks now.
But never fear: When you show up to a meeting and I tell you I’m there to represent those of you who maybe didn’t necessarily finish the book but who definitely do want to get together with other fun people and chat over eats and drinks, that’s not a bit! That’s the truth! And I’m still going to be there to represent those of you!
One just snuck by me; what can I say? Meet me at New York Deli on July 26 and let me explain, okay?

SOCIAL NEWS
You’re the sunflower: Sure, lavender season has already come and gone, but there are more flowers to clip and take home — sunflowers! Fresh Branch Farm sounded the alarm on Insta, and all this week, the spot will be blooming with photo- and centerpiece-worthy florals. $10 per car, $0.50 per stem, $50 per day for photogs — and BTW, BYO scissors! (Instagram)
Feel-good news for the eaglets: Philadelphia Eagles safety Anthony Harris — a Bird High School and UVA alum — hosted his third football camp in Richmond last week. 250 kids attended the event, learning drills from Anthony along with other seasoned players, coaches, and trainers. Said the Super Bowl athlete, “[I want to] create an environment with kids that come out to give them something to really remember, look forward to and try to inspire them." (Richmond Times-Dispatch)
Pop by this new pop-up: There are lots of reasons to visit Pizza Bones, and Susie’s is adding more to the list. The food-and-drink pop-up will set up shop at the East End pizza spot on Tuesdays from 6 to 9 pm. Look for things like chicken taquitos and sherry limeade one Tuesday, and then switch it up and look for other things the next Tuesday. (Instagram)
Tomato this, tomato that: If you don’t know it by now, Paige is a huge tomato szn girlie, and for good reason. Summer Supper Somm and Duke’s Hot Tomato Summer are Richmond event staples, and it’s easy to understand why — like, just look at the red beauts pictured above! Richmond magazine delves deeper into the delish-ness of the weeks-long tomato celebration, in partic: “The series has been garnering a fan base of returning guests — much like concertgoers who get hooked and hop on tour to see their favorite musicians — and participating restaurants. [A]bout one out of every four diners is a repeat attendee, food fanatics who get giddy over the varied and versatile produce just as much as the chefs who are uncovering its potential.” If you haven’t already, mark your calendars. (Richmond magazine)
The ride of your life: When a spot is described as “the Disneyland of Mexican restaurants,” you probably don’t need to know much else — you’re on your way. But we’ll humor you. Tequila Sunrise Mexican Kitchen & Cantina opened its doors last week, and the vibrant atmosphere (with custom art by @grandbuffetstudios!) complements the vibrant menu, which spotlights goat meat birria tacos.
