Happy Wednesday!
It’s been a hairy frontpage-news week (to put it so lightly, you’ll wonder if I even know what the word “hairy” means), and since we just passed World Mental Health Day, now seemed like as good a time as any to point you in the direction of some brain food we at The Richmond Experience have been loving recently: Ellie Mental Health! The org is all about helping you find a therapist you can ~vibe~ with and destigmatizing the uncomfiness that may sometimes surround traditional talk seshes.
I’ve done my share of shopping around for a good therapist (still perusing, tbh!), and if there’s one thing that makes all the difference, it’s the feeling(s) of it all — in your brain and in your appointment room. If you’re looking for a new spot to work through some things, check out Ellie. As they put it, they’re there to “provide you with a comfortable place to talk, decompress, do the work, and heal.” You got this.

SOCIAL NEWS
Feeling hot, hot, hot: Village Garden and Barboursville Vineyards — who delight your tastebuds with Summer, Supper, Somm — are back with some more deliciousness. Chile Chill Out happens through November 6 and celebrates all things spicy with local chefs cooking up dishes on dishes of Chile-inspired eats. Get your tix through participating restaurants! (Instagram)
Bottoms up while you shop: This week, Stony Point Fashion Park will start allowing shoppers to carry open containers while they shop. The mall’s participating restaurant tenants will serve to-go alcoholic drinks, which can be enjoyed in the mall’s public areas and inside any stores that allow it. For now, you can plan to grab a takeout bev from PF Chang’s, Latitude Seafood Co., Eggspectation, Stumpy’s Hatchet House, CineBistro, and Verseau Bistro. (Richmond BizSense)
YOYOK — IYKYK: Emily Warden Designs just added a line of friendship bracelets to its jewelry display cabinets. Each piece features a dainty cord and beads. Get one for yourself or you and your bestie — and consider checking out the shop’s new lockets while you’re at it. (Emily Warden Designs)
Shuckin’ and winin’: Pinky’s is hosting an Oyster and Wine Tasting event from 6 to 9 pm on Monday, October 16. It’s free to attend, but after you taste-test, order some full pours and food, and stay a while. $1 from each wine (glass or bottle) sold will go directly to providing assistance to those in need in Ukraine. (Press Release)
Add this to your watchlist: As you might remember, a serious fire broke out at the Metro Richmond Zoo a few months ago. Now, the org has pulled together a documentary that “tells the story of what happened that night and sheds light on the heroic acts of firefighters, emergency personnel, and zoo staff.” (Metro Richmond Zoo)
A little boo thang: Still costume-shopping for the end of the month? Check out your nearest Spirit Halloween (look it up here!) and help a good cause while you do. Funds from the shop go directly to Children’s Hospital of Richmond’s child life program that helps patients and families adjust to and cope with the hospital or clinical setting, illness or injury and the treatments involved. Here’s how you can make it happen in-store and online:
In-store: Customers can use the coupon here through October 31 to receive 10% off their total purchase, and Spirit Halloween will donate 10% back to CHoR.
Online: Customers can use coupon code GIVING23 through Oct. 31 to receive 10% off their total purchase AND Spirit Halloween will donate 10% back to CHoR.
BTW, both online and in stores, customers can opt to make an additional donation to CHoR to support the child life program. (Press Release)
Rainbow Cookies, but make it fashion: The Richmond Kickers are selling “the most Richmond training top to ever exist!” Snag a Total Rainbow Cookie Training Top online (available in adult and kid sizes!) and be prepared to head to the closest grocery store for the iconic sweet snack immediately after you place your Kickers order.
