Powered by Starr Hill Beer Hall & Rooftop — stop by for some pilot beer ASAP: Old Fuss & Feathers and Hot Commodity pouring now.
Hi there!
I know it’s going to be upwards of 70 degrees by the end of this week, but I can’t get enough of all the winter pics flurrying around Insta recently. That one up there?? You’re beautiful, Richmond! 😍
Another couple of feel-good things I came across while rounding up the week’s tidbits for you?:
Like, doesn’t it all just make you feel so warm and fuzzy?! But seriously — high of 71 this Friday. Hang your mob-wife coat in the closet ‘til next week.
Keep scrolling for RVA’s latest social news, including how to help Auntie Ning’s, where to get a seafood tower, area code changes, and more.

RICHMONDER TO KNOW
Layne Montgomery: She’s the owner of Lakeside’s soon-to-be-opened gelato shop, Davvero Gelato. Take the next few weeks to work up an appetite for the spot’s gelato, hot and cold drinks, nut spreads and chocolates, and make plans to visit this spring. In the meantime, look out for pop-up info here, and donate to the cause here.

SOCIAL NEWS
What’s crackin’ next?: Hatch Local Food Hall is closing. The Manchester hub for many delish local businesses made the announcement last week but noted that folks still have until Sunday, March 31, to stop by and support The Locals (Fat Kid Sandwiches, Royal Pig, Greek on Cary, 1115 Mobile Kitchen, TBT El Gallito, and GRACE). *Def* make sure you do, and keep an eye on Hatch’s socials for what’s to come. New kid on the ~rock(s)~: Lillian Oyster Hall opened its doors in Scott’s Addition last week and has officially been added to the list of our favorite spots to slurp oysters in Richmond. The atmosphere features a grand wraparound bar and standing tables near the windows; the extensive wine list pairs perfectly with the oysters (confirms our in-house wine expert, Paige, obvs); and an order of Towers (eight oysters, eight shrimp, four clams, two shooters, two skewers, crudite and pickles, and tuna tartare) is what we recommend — at least for starters. (Instagram)
Auntie Ning’s needs our help: The restaurant serves its mouth-watering, authentic Filipino food at ChefSuite and from its food truck at events around town, but it’s recently fallen on hard times. Auntie Ning’s chef and owner, Frederico Enriquez, is asking for Richmonders to help him keep the dream alive. You can order food (hiiighly recommend the Breakfast Bowl Sampler and Pork Belly Adobo) or donate to the GoFundMe here, or both! (Instagram)
Call me on my cell phone: The Greater Richmond area (including Richmond, Ashland, Charles City, Chesterfield, Henrico, New Kent and Petersburg) (and the Northern Neck) is getting another area code. In addition to 804, 686 will start circulating phone lines with new or added service, starting as early as February 1. Says the SCC, “The new 686 area code addresses the exhaustion of phone numbers in the 804 area code caused by increasing demand for phone lines. The relief provided by the new 686 area code is expected to last approximately 32 years.” (State Corporation Commission)
Richmond is abuzz: “An elevated coffee drive-thru experience” is coming to town. 7 Brew will bring its first local outpost to the Chesterfield area at the start of the summer, with hopes to bring four other locations to the area. The java spot offers hot and iced coffee, smoothies, teas, milkshakes, muffins, and in-house energy drink 7 Energy. (Richmond BizSense)
Varina Farms for $17.25 mil, please!: Said Henrico County leaders, probably. The county bought Varina Farms, making the investment to preserve the land. The nearly 2,100 acres is steeped in history: “The property laid the foundation for the the domestic tobacco industry in Virginia and it’s where English explorer and slaveowner John Rolfe lived with Pocahontas, a Powhatan Chief’s daughter. Adding to the land’s wealth of historical significance, the structure still wears its Civil War-era battle scars.” (ABC 8News)
