Hello, hello!
We’re testing out a trimmer email campaign this week! Per usual, we’ll get you started with a li’l intro up top here, but then you’ll have to smash that READ THE WEEKLY INSIDER button to get the rest of this week’s scoop, from the forecast to the latest happenings and MUCH more.
Of course, if you want to hang around in this email for a bit longer (it’s cozy in here; we get it!), we’ve got some city guides for you to peruse (see: NEW & TRENDING), a link to our event calendar (see: MUST-DO HAPPENINGS), and directions to our online shop, too (see: IN THE SHOP)!
Okay, we’ll leave you to it.
… Oh, and if you’re *originally* reading this intro on our website, forget everything we just said — but make sure you’re signed up for our emails!

THINGS WE’RE *WAY* LOVING THIS MONTH
Sam:
Monday Morning Press: I am obsessed with Natalie Grace Monday’s handmade paper earrings. I’ve had a pair for years, and they’ve held up so well. I just ordered two more pieces — right now, if you sign up for her mailing list, she’s giving 10% off your first order!
Paige:
That ‘70s Hive: A nearby Harmonized Getaways property, That ‘70s Hive features vintage furnishings *and* a firepit, four neighboring beaches, a stellar porch, spots to play tennis and pickleball, and all the hip and groovy vibes.
Westmoreland State Park: During our visit, we explored Fossil Beach (in Westmoreland State Park!) — a beach known for beautiful sandstone cliffs, fossil-like shells, and shark teeth. Find our TikTok scoping the spot here.
Kelsey:
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts: I know it’s a Richmond classic, but I just visited the VMFA again recently, and every time I do, I literally cannot believe general admission is free! Every part of it is absolutely stunning, and taking my kids for a walk around The E. Claiborne and Lora Robins Sculpture Garden and the Modern and Contemporary Art collection, in particular, is a great way for us to get fresh air and play some elevated I Spy.

SOCIAL NEWS
We’re in luck!: If you’re all about the pop-up bars during the holiday season, you’ll love this — Three Notch’d Craft Kitchen & Brewery is putting one together for St. Patrick’s Day. Leading up to March 17 this year, the spot will introduce Shenanigans, “a unique, St. Patrick's Day-themed pop-up bar,” featuring live music, special events, exclusive cocktail and food menus, and more. Three Notch’d plans to announce more info this week (including ticket info), so keep your eyes on social media for other deets. (Instagram)
Adventures with Paige Poprocky: ICYMI, Blue Bee Cider and Beaucoup opened last week, which means our social media manager was booked af (but is she ever not?).
The new Blue Bee Cider location is off Bethlehem Rd near Libbie Mill Library. Former employees Mackenzie Smith and Taylor Benson bought the cidery from founder Courtney Mailey last March and have been ~busy bees~ ever since. The atmosphere features a cozy vibe with a mix of bar seating and comfy couches, and the extensive menu lists its cider offerings alongside fun associations, both food- and music-wise. While they were there, Paige and her pal enjoyed the Harvest Party (a good option if you like pineapple and Campari and you’re in the mood for Meek Mill’s House Party) and Petit Manchurian (a good option if you like funky cheese and sushi and you’re in the mood for Funkadelic’s Maggot Brain).
Beaucoup, from the brains behind Jardin and Grisette, also delivered. The spot has bar seating and intimate table seating available, and the menu features mouth-watering eats and drinks *and* a killer happy hour ($1 oysters, $6 big beers, $8 martinis, $30 bottles of muscadet). Paige and her crew started with a dozen oysters, then enjoyed the Frites & Garlic Aioli, Oeuf Mayonnaise (soft boiled and fried egg, dijon aioli), and Scallop Roll (milk bread, lightly dressed, chips). “Mind blowing,” she says. Better stock up: Tarrant’s Café is packaging its she-crab soup for retail and distribution. To be found in stores as She-Crabby Soup, the dish is the number-one-selling item on the menu at both café locations; it’s come to develop a cult following across the nation, attracting folks from Florida, New York, and beyond. The soup is “rich and creamy with lump crab and savory herbs,” and you can expect to see it sold in pint- and quart-size containers in the coming days. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)
This takes the cake: Urban Set Bride turns ten this month! The woman-owned, black-owned business in Church Hill is run by mother-daughter team Jennifer Haines and Christine Haines Greenberg and born from Christine’s observation that Richmond needed “a cozy bridal shop for the modern babe.” Now, they’re celebrating a decade in business — and in a big way. Stop by on the shop’s birthday this Saturday, March 2, between 12 and 4 pm, and enjoy wine from Second Bottle, light snacks from Grazing Crazy, and a peek at all the beautiful gowns. (Facebook)
Take us out to the ball game: The Richmond Flying Squirrels are hitting off their 2024 season on Tuesday, April 9, at 6:35 pm. For the last THIRTEEN years, tickets for the home opener have sold out, so don’t be nutty — snag your seats ASAP. Nutzy’s Block Party happens this Saturday, March 2, from 10 am to 1 pm, to start the official countdown to baseball season with food trucks; music; vendors; a car show; monster trucks; a petting zoo; games and activities for kids; a mascot autograph session featuring Nutzy, Nutasha, and friends; and more. The first 100 fans who purchase tickets at the box office or redeem vouchers in person at the ~funn~party will get an exclusive T-shirt. (MiLB)
