THINGS WE’RE *WAY* LOVING THIS MONTH

Paige:

Richmond Kickers: We headed to the Roos home opener, and I forgot how fun the games are! They offer many local beer and food options, and the affordable tickets make it a fun date night! I'm so excited to cheer on Richmond Ivy this season, too.

Lost Letter: My girlfriend, Holly, and I enjoyed a date night at Lost Letter this past weekend; the whole experience was magical. Lost Letter is an innovative Italian concept in the former Longoven spot in Scott's Addition brought to us by the folks behind Longoven and Lillian Oyster Hall. Expect delicious bites, a fantastic wine selection, and mouthwatering desserts.

Kelsey:

AMR Mobile Carwash & Detailing: Antonio Ripley and his team at AMR Mobile Carwash & Detailing always bring my car back to mint condish — and I never even have to leave the house!

ROI Strength & Conditioning: I’m working with Stephanie Sfara at ROI Strength & Conditioning to zhuzh up my running routine. I’ve gone in for a consultation to talk through my fitness history and goals, and Stephanie pulled together a *very thorough* remote program for me to work through on my own time at home. Keep an eye out — I’ve got updates for you coming soon!

SOCIAL NEWS

Ayy, ayy, ayy: Yellow Umbrella Provisions is officially open in Libbie Mill! The specialty grocery store and community of food lovers opened right across the way from Libbie Mill Library. Stop by and get a load of the same deliciousness you can find at the orig location on Patterson Ave, including prepared foods, baked goods, pantry staples, charcuterie, wine, beer, fresh seafood and meat, and hot-lunch options (like house-made soups and made-to-order paninis). And keep an eye out for another location popping up in Scott’s Addition this summer. (Instagram)

Where to get something savory: Touché Pies and Fries celebrated its grand opening over the weekend. The new meat pie restaurant is located in the East End and offers meat pies, crab stuffed lobster, fresh pretzels, sweet potato buns and poutine fries, as well as a variety of libations to wash it all down. During the pandemic, shop owner Thomas Coleman was inspired to create the concept after seeing a similar idea on the Food Network. (ABC8 News)

Join the club: Three’d Notch’d Brewing Company recently launched a distillery club. The One Five One Distillery Club (which is limited to 151 members per Three Notch’d location and costs $349 per year) gets participants exclusive access to new spirit releases, swag, and events. Says the brewery, the One Five One Distillery Club “is your passport to the world of exceptional craft spirits.” Bon voyage! (Press Release)

BBQ is back: After a lengthy break and a few adjustments to its look, Alamo BBQ is back up and running — and TG for that! We know out-of-towners who have travelled to Church Hill for the Trainwreck Burrito alone (and we understand, considering it’s packed with meat, mac 'n cheese, cowboy beans, and cornbread). But if that's not your style, the spot’s appeal def doesn’t stop there. IYKYK, but if you don’t, stop by Monday through Sunday, 11 am to 8 pm, and you’ll see what we mean. And by the way: Frontier by Alamo is Alamo BBQ's sister restaurant, and she lives about two blocks down the road. The menu is very similar — barbecue, jalapeño mac, general deliciousness. (Facebook)

Glitter on the highway: Very unfortunately, SB’s Lakeside Love Shack’s location in the Fan is closing its doors at the end of the month. The restaurant broke the news on its Facebook page, with owner Sarabeth Hagen saying that while she’s heartbroken, it’s the best decision right now for her and her family. SB’s last brunch service will happen this Easter Sunday until 3 pm, so be sure to head over for a Big as a Whale Breakfast or Bang Bang on the Door Eggs Benedict — and the next time you get a craving, just head to the original SB’s Love Shack location on Lakeside Ave. (Facebook)

Hatch a plan to visit these spots: Richmond mag rounded up some of the city’s best deviled eggs to try, and our mouths are watering. Here are the pub’s highlights on the “sunny swirls of joy”:

  • Roe Deviled Eggs from Birdie’s — American trout roe, anchovy sauce, chervil

  • Classic Deviled Eggs from Sally Bell’s Kitchen — a smidge chunky, a touch sweet, homemade “secret sauce” mayo

  • Dozen Deviled Eggs from Supper Club — a mustard-mayo filling with a tiny bite

  • Black Truffle Deviled Eggs from Revel Market + Bar — black truffle oil, sun-dried paprika, chives

  • Rotating Deviled Eggs from Sheppard Street Tavern — California roll, Bloody Mary, pimento cheese (to name a few past selections) (Richmond magazine)
