Hiii!

It’s looking like snow ahead again, and while I love another opportunity for some cozying up inside, I’m also extremely ready to move on from this season and lie out in the sun at Libby Hill Park. Here are just a few things keeping my eye on the warm-weather prize(s) around the corner:

Like, physically, I’m cranking my heating pad up another notch, but mentally, I’m out floating on the James, you know? We’re almost there.

Keep scrolling for RVA’s latest social news, including a volunteer opp, a viral food truck, new menu items at Boulevard Burger & Brew, and more.

SOCIAL NEWS

An author event featuring yours truly: Former RVAx managing editor and media director, Alicia Valenski, is now a published (book) author! You can preorder The LGBTQ+ Travel Guide, which features “interviews, itineraries, and inspiration from queer insiders in 50+ proud places,” including RVAx’s very own owner and CMO, Paige Poprocky. Catch Alicia and Paige in discussion about the book and more at Fountain Bookstore on Thursday, April 10, starting at 6 pm. (Instagram)

Boulevard Burger & Brew is back in biz. After a car crashed into the Scott’s Addition spot last fall, burger operations temporarily shut down so the restaurant could get some much-needed repairs. Now with a fresh patio, new windows, and added menu items, BB&B is ready to have you back for anything and everything to eat and drink — don’t forget a milkshake with your order. (Instagram)

Alert your TBR piles. Silent Reading Party founder, Sarah Choi, announced that she’s bringing her beloved bookish social club back. The next opp to “quietly read your own book in company of strangers” happens on Friday, March 28, from 6 to 8 pm at Blue Bee Cider. Tickets to attend are 20 bucks each and include a drink plus gratuity. And Sarah’s birthday is in March, so there may be a cake situation in the mix, too. (Instagram)

Beyond Boundaries started a Learn to Bike program, happening now through Monday, April 7. Along with Autism Society of Central Virginia, Beyond Boundaries will meet at WeeWheel every Monday evening, from 5:45 to 7:30 pm, and help Richmonders learn how to pedal. If you’re interested in volunteering as a spotter, you can email george@beyondboundariesrva.org for more info. Beyond Boundaries is a non-profit specializing in guiding participants with disabilities, veterans, underserved youth, and recovery programs on outdoor adventures, and ASCV serves as one of the region’s premier sources of education, advocacy, services, and support for individuals with autism, their families and friends, and professionals. (Beyond Boundaries)

Stock up on Spicy Sweet Chili Doritos ASAP. Flavor Hive is making its way down from Alexandria and parking its truck inside The Park next Wednesday, February 26, from 4 pm to 12 am. The local sensation has caused a buzz around the DMV, doling out its viral eats, including heaping servings of piping-hot halal meat, and all the fixings, atop customers’ choices of chip, BYOB style. Start planning your order now, and enjoy some rounds of bowling, mini golf, and more — 50% off to play! — after you dig in next Wednesday. (Instagram)

Fin-tastic news for spring-summer: Plans for the Yellow Umbrella Provisions expansion to Scott’s Addition are coming along nicely. The co is bringing another market location to the former Blue Bee Cider building as well as a new seafood and raw bar concept, Slack Tide Fish Co. Look for the new set-ups in late April or May, along with Cirrus Vodka’s next tasting room. (Richmond BizSense)
