As we continue to experience cold weather, many of us find ourselves yearning for a cozy place to escape it. While staying bundled up at home is tempting, sometimes a change of scenery can do wonders for your mood and well-being!

One of the best ways to escape the cold is by heading to a cozy restaurant, where you can indulge in warm, comforting food and drink while enjoying the company of loved ones or simply taking time for yourself. Check out our list of recommendations to get out of the house, while maintaining the cozy vibe.

Joe’s Inn

Joe’s Inn is one of the warmest and most inviting restaurants I’ve personally been to in the city. From the moment you walk in the door, you’re greeted with the aroma of delicious food and friendly servers and bartenders. 

Their menu offers finger foods, an assortment of comfort foods, and all-day breakfast. Stop in for a bite — it’s a Richmond gem for a reason.

The Jasper

Escape the cold and dash into The Jasper when strolling Carytown. Sophisticated yet unassuming, The Jasper is the perfect place for after-work drinks or a small meal. 

There is something truly magical about this place. Maybe it’s the cozy booths in the back or the dim lighting and music. In any case, The Jasper is your ticket to a relaxed and casual atmosphere out of the cold.

Hotel Greene

If you like themed restaurants and mini golf, you’ll love Hotel Greene. Located in the heart of the city, the concept restaurant with themes around an early 1900s hotel offers a variety of flatbread pizzas, salads, sandwiches, and hors d'oeuvres.  If you’re getting cozy here with someone special, check out their date night special for only $55 per couple.

Bateau

Nestled right along the canal walk, you’ll find Bateau, an upscale yet intimate restaurant serving seafood, salads, and desserts. Contemporary touches like the gas fireplace and marble bar counter make you feel like you’re at a swanky restaurant in New York. If you’re feeling a cocktail, I recommend the Bateau Sweet Tea.

Bookbinder’s Seafood and Steakhouse

For a classy yet cozy meal with your partner, you must visit Bookbinder’s for your next date night. Perfect for the seafood lover, you’ll notice an array of plates to choose from, including a raw bar, escargot, salmon, scallops, crab cakes, and more. If you’re not a fan of these dishes, you can opt for their steaks — cooked to your desired doneness and accompanied by tasty sides.

The Tobacco Company Restaurant
