HI! 👋

We’re midweek — HOORAY! That means we’ve made it to the day of our Member Happy Hour. Will we see you this eve? 👀 RSVP here, if you haven’t already, and come join us for a beer!

In the meantime, as we do the 5:30 pm countdown, here are a few other things to enjoy:

  • The Richmond Experience donates a portion of each annual membership purchased to rotating nonprofits every month, and Elegba Folklore Society was on the calendar for our April donation. Because of you, our members, we were able to support “Richmond’s cultural ambassador” in building community in the city and providing educational opportunities through the arts. THANK YOU!

  • William Fox Elementary School headed to class at Clark Springs Elementary, where they’ll finish the remainder of the year — and where they had quite the welcoming committee.

  • Richmond’s beloved JewFro was featured in Bon Appétit.

  • Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen announced plans for its soft (re)opening.

Okay, only about 11 hours and 15 minutes to go. Let’s kill some more time:

THE LATEST:

BREWERY NEWS

Crushing hard: Hardywood’s Suncrush Crushfest is back! This Saturday, May 14, head to the brewery’s West Creek location from noon to 10 pm, and enjoy outdoor games, food-truck eats (from Grandpa Eddie’s, Slideways, Dominion Dogs, and Jiji Frozen Custard). live music, and adaptive demos with nonprofit Beyond Boundaries. (Hardywood)

Taking it up a notch: Three Notch'd Brewing Company has plans to expand into the former Red Goat Pizza and Wine Station locations on Broad St, including space for a restaurant. If this means more room to store batches of the New Lions - Blonde Stout , we’re there. And if it doesn’t, we’re there. (Richmond BizSense)

Meet at the Starr-ting line: The Starr Hill Run Club meets at the Starr Hill Beer Hall & Rooftop’s Scott’s Addition location every Tuesday evening, welcoming runners of all paces and offering 5K, 10K, and — now — one-mile routes. Hit the pavement with some buds, then head back to the brewery to cool down with a dollar off every beer you order when you’re done. (Instagram)

And speaking of Starr Hill: The brewery is also celebrating National Bike Month with several events honoring its May Cheers for Charity partners, Friends of RABA and Bike MS. To boot, $1 per pint of The Love sold in May will go directly to Bike MS. (Instagram)

FOOD, FLOWER & FLEA NEWS

Peas and thank you: The Committee of Consciousness is laying out quite a spread this weekend. On Saturday, May 14, head to the Diamond for the Black Vegan Experience from 10 am to 5 pm. There’ll be music, giveaways, prizes, goodie bags, and, of course, delicious eats. “You don’t have to be vegan — just a lover of good and tasty food!” (Eventbrite)

New spots to note: YogaSix opened last week (and is celebrating with free classes this week). Westray’s Finest opened on Monday. Cabo Fish Taco opened on Tuesday. K|LA Boutique opens this Saturday.

We’re not dandelion: The Virginia Museum of History & Culture is hosting its grand reopening this weekend, but while we wait, we’re looking forward to some events leading up to it, including this Thursday’s floral demonstration with international floral artist Paula Pryke. Tickets are $75 to attend, and you have the option add on lunch with Paula afterward, too. (Eventbrite)

Studio Two Flea: Studio Two Three is bringing back its Studio Two Flea market event this Friday, May 13. Enjoy music, food, and drinks, while you shop for prints, “some weird stuff, and some cool old stuff.” The first 100 attendees will receive a Friday-the-13th-inspired tote. (Instagram)
