Ed 238: food hall pop-ups, 100+ AF Activities, rva tote
Hi, friends!👋
I hope everyone had a fun and safe weekend ringing in the new year! More importantly, I hope you’re gently easing back into work after the holidays. Whether you planned meticulously and your inbox is already at 0, or you’re on your second (or is it third?) cup of coffee for the day, just take a deep breath and find something to be grateful for. There’s never anywhere to go but up.
Except maybe Richmond’s temps. Today's high is 70 degrees! This time last year, there was snow on the ground. It’ll stay seasonable warm until it doesn’t — you know how RVA does.
Keep scrolling for the latest social news, including which popular food trucks are popping up at Hatch this month, not one but two dining roundups, where to get your wellness on, and more.

SOCIAL NEWS
Food on the move: We are so stoked to see several local food and beverage companies moving and shaking this past year, thanks to Hatch Kitchen! By their count, seven businesses opened their own brick and mortars (including Fat Rabbit Cakes, Lolita’s, Penny’s, and Chewy’s Bagels), one moved into its own production space, one moved into Hatch’s food hall, and one moved to a co-packer model. (Instagram)
Speaking of the food hall: With Odyssey recently moving on to its own brick-and-mortar, you can find Auntie Nings, 1115 Mobile Kitchen, Horne Dogs, and Smashed RVA popping up each week during the month of January. Check out the schedule here. And keep an eye on their social because it looks like they’re planning something really special on January 30. (Instagram)
New(ish) and noteworthy: Richmond Mag rounded up 25 can’t-miss dining experiences around the Richmond region that opened within the last 20 months (between January 2021 to August 2022). Some of our team’s favs include Cage Beignet, Pizza Bones, Cocodrilo, and JewFro. How many have you been to on this list? (Richmond Mag)
Going a bit further: Justin Lo over at RTD News decided to dig a little deeper by highlighting the notable folks behind the noteworthy spots in Richmond dining all stars of 2022: Leah Branch, Daniel Harthausen, Megan Lee Hopkins and more. If you like peaking behind the curtain and you’re interested in getting to know the people and inspiration driving your favorite establishments, give this one a read. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)
Mind, body, and spirit: Health and wellness is all the rave right now, but that's the main focus at The Well Collective all year long. "Wellness is about exploration and discovery. Be curious, gain new skills, engage in life and new activities, and best of all share these with others," writes their January event post. If you're looking for wellness and community, take a peek at their January schedule. Register for classes like deep rest and yoga nidra (yogic sleep), sound meditation, and plant and writing workshops. After all, proper health is about the mind, body, and spirit. Grab a monthly unlimited package for $60, or take a drop-in class for $15. Some classes are offered as pay-what-you-can so be sure to check the schedule first. (Instagram)
