Hey, readers!👋
The weather today is meh, BUT we’re halfway through the week, and sunshine is on the way. Can you even believe next week is February? Only 11 months left in the year — woah!
Are you having an eff-free year so far? If, like me, you’ve already picked up one or two things out of habit, consider this your reminder to take a quick inventory and let go of the unnecessary.
Lastly (not necessary, but highly encouraged), this is your reminder that our January book club meetup is tomorrow, Thursday, January 26, at Virago Spirits.
Keep scrolling for RVA’s latest social news, including a new Italian concept in Scott’s Addition, where green space can soon be found along Broad St, a coffee shop in a shipping container, and more.

SOCIAL NEWS
Four years in the making: 6223 Lakeside Ave was leased back in 2019 by the owner and the chef behind Julep’s New Southern Cuisine with plans to open a market. Four years later and post-pandemic, the renovation is nearly complete, and Revel Market and Bar is gearing up to open. The space will include a neighborhood-friendly restaurant with happy hour and food specials and a market stocked with meats, cheeses, wine, and more. (Richmond Bizsense)
Walk this way: The Science Museum released a new study that found that walking in green spaces has better health outcomes — you don’t say! Good thing they’re gearing up to create a “sustainable, 6-acre community greenspace called The Green” which will take over their current parking lots. We can’t wait to see so much greenspace along Broad Street! (Good Morning RVA)
A Night of Local Talent: You still have time to grab tickets to the fancy event happening at Hatch Local Food Hall on Monday, January 30. Each ticket is $125 and includes 18 small bites from nine culinary talents, including Royal Pig, Grisette, Sincero, Jardin, and Fat Rabbit Bakery, to name a few. Plus one cocktail from Jasper Bar and one from The Verdant Lady. The night also includes live music from The Grace Street Seven, and attendees are encouraged to dress to impress! (Instagram)
More news out of Longoven: The team at Longoven has been BUSY, ya’ll! First, we learned about the forthcoming Nokoribi, a yakitori-inspired eatery inside the new Veil Brewing taproom. Now comes the announcement of Lost Letter, an Italian concept opening this week inside their existing Longoven location. According to Karri Peifer over at Axios Richmond, Lost Letter “will take over Longoven's front dining room, bar and patio space.” Meanwhile, Longoven “will still offer its 13-course tasting menu in the back.” Lost Letter will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 5- 9 pm and til 10 pm on Friday and Saturday. Make a reservation here. (Axios Richmond)
Run, don't walk: If you’re gearing up for the Monument Ave 10k or just need new running shoes for your workouts, you’re in luck! The fourth location of Lucky Road is open in Carytown. Get professionally fitted for shoes and pick up apparel, athleisure, and running accessories while you’re at it. (Richmond Bizsense)
Follow the (yellow) brick road: Straight to the caffeine! Brick Road Coffee Co. is opening in the West End, born from the desire for a local coffee shop in the ‘burbs. In addition to liquid gold, Brick Road will be offering breakfast and lunch crepes, salads, sandwiches, desserts, muffins, cupcakes, and other baked items. (Richmond Bizsense)
The Supper Club: Two Richmonders are on a mission to expand the culinary and social palettes of foodies around the city! According to the @socialclubrva Insta, Melisa and Gianna are “inspired by flavorful food and passionate conversation.” Melisa is a Richmond native, and Gianna is a professional chef living in RVA since 2020. The first meetup will be on February 23 in Scott’s Addition — the specific location is yet to be announced. Get on their mailing list for an invite and more details!
