SOCIAL NEWS
Take a stroll down Lovers Lane: Have you ever seen an abandoned street pole carefully wrapped in white and red yarn with a heart-stamped envelope at the top just casually standing tall around the city? These Love Bombs are part of an ongoing street art installation from local artist Knitorious M.E.G. with number 140 installed just last month. Well, no need to run all around RVA in search of one; for the price of general admission, you can take a stroll down Lovers Lane in the perennial garden at Lewis Ginter to feel the love. Check out these bright creations now through March 31. (Lewis Ginter)
Participate in public art making: Want to get in on the artmaking action? The VMFA and RVA Community Makers invite the public to come out on Sunday, February 5, 12 - 3 pm to help create a colorful collage as a movie poster for the 5th annual RVA Community Makers public art project. This public masterpiece will be included in the 2023 RVA Community Makers installation in VMFA’s Cochrane Atrium from Feb 16 to Mar 17. While you’re at the museum, check out their newest exhibition Isaac Julien: Lessons of the Hour—Frederick Douglass. (VMFA)
