ED 67: Work Beer Co, Carytown update, NAMA opens
Hey there!
Happy Wednesday!!! It's the best day of the week! (Okay, maybe second best but we'll take it.) Today we're sharing a personal update...it's a sneak peek of our completed home reno! If you've been following along on the 'gram, you know we've come a long way so we're super excited to share the final photos of our completed project. Since we don't have a DIY-handy-knack for interior design-bone in our body, we are forever grateful to our builder, Virginia Tradition Builders, and our interior designer, Nicole Rutledge Design. We'll keep you posted on the housewarming!
THE LATEST:
FOOD + DRINK NEWS
First things first, Grisette finally opened Monday night! You can check out their opening menu here.
Indian street food culture is coming to the Art's District at NAMA! The name NAMA comes from the word Namaste, a way to show respect as you greet someone. The space was designed using traditional colors of Indian culture so look for rich hues and a cozy feel. Most items will be prepared as shared plates and their seating will offer space for intimate groups to gather and eat together. Keep an eye on our Insta for a peek inside NAMA tonight! Their preview weekend begins tomorrow through Sunday and you can make a reservation here as limited seatings are available. If you go check it out, tag us and let us know what you think!
More BBQ is headed to the city after a previous BBQ spot closed down. Stump's Pig & Pint is replacing Jackson's Beer Garden & Smokehouse in Jackson Ward. According to the Richmond Bizsense article, the new owners plan to offer ribs, brisket, and other smoked meats along with homemade desserts and live music on their patio. Sounds like deliciously great time! PS: About those rocket ribs! (Richmond Bizsense)
You might be familiar with Hardywood's Suncrush beer, a sparkling ale brand they launched earlier this year, but how about Work Beer Co? Hardywood is back with another brand offshoot and this time they're catering to the no frills beer drinkers. "Remember when beer tasted like beer? Well, this is that beer." They launched last year around Labor Day but stopped producing, rebranded, and launched again at the end of June. You can check it out by grabbing a six pack or case at any Hardywood location, you deserve it.

CARYTOWN
Have you seen the top of Carytown recently? The former Richmond Shopping Center has been completely demolished and construction is underway for Carytown Exchange, a 27-space shopping plaza anchored by Publix with the CVS remaining in its current location. The merchandising plans show space for two pet stores, two technology stores, one boutique fitness studio, six service/beauty spots, three quick-service restaurants, two full service restaurants, seven retail spaces, and four flex spots that are open for retail, service/beauty, fitness, or an additional quick-service restaurant. The developers, Regency Centers, also manage the Village Shopping Center at Three Chopt and Patterson which includes local spots such as Ginger Juice, Toast, Petals Flowers & Gifts, and Ravenchase Adventures along with chains like Jimmy Johns, Palm Beach Tan, and Starbucks. ICYMI, here are the renderings of Carytown Exchange. Anticipated completion date is Fall 2020. What do you think of this development?
