Hey there!
Richmond is ever-changing and this week is no exception. Another brewery is added to the roster, more eatertainment (noun: an experience that incorporates activities alongside eating and drinking) is planned, and the holidays are starting to creep up which means plenty of popup markets so you can shop local. Plus Thanksgiving dinner, the GardenFest of Lights and more!

A new brewery just opened in Richmond! Located on Ownby Road near Hardywood, Main Line Brewery aims to blend craft beer and local entertainment to create good times. Seating is offered both indoor and outdoor along with life-sized pong, Jenga, giant Connect Four, and corn hole. Stop by 1603 Ownby Lane to check it out!
First it was Guy Fieri and now it’s Gordon Ramsay, multi-Michelin starred chef and host of “24 Hours to Hell and Back”! Gordon was spotted in Richmond over the weekend and according to CBS 6, neighbors in Jackson Ward believe he was working with Southern Kitchen. We’ll let you know when this has been confirmed! Meanwhile, mark your calendar because Guy’s first Richmond restaurant episode will air on November 22 at 9pm according to Richmond Times Dispatch. On “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives”, Guy is “Cruisin’ Capital Cities” stopping at a “classic deli cooking modern takes like duck pierogis and Jewish egg rolls” which leads us all to believe Perly’s will be in the spotlight.
A hotel is coming to the Museum District! Just one block North of Ellwood Thompson’s, a Residence Inn by Marriott is slated to be built. If you’re scratching your head like us to figure out where, it sounds like four homes will be torn down at the corner of N Thompson and Floyd Ave to make room for the hotel. This would be a huge addition to the area considering the nearest hotels aren’t really all that close; to the west there’s a Holiday Inn-Midtown at Willow Lawn, to the North a Clarion Hotel just beyond The Diamond, and to the East you have many hotels downtown. With Carytown Exchange coming in as well, the top of Carytown will be looking quite different over the next two years. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)
You can now get grilled cheese and really all the cheese you could ever want at Blue Bee Cider! This week Truckle Cheesemongers opens inside Blue Bee and it’s got our mouth watering because what. a. treat. Truckle began as a popup at local farmers markets and also offered house-made beer cheese at local breweries using beer from that particular location. You can find the beer cheese at Courthouse Creek, Final Gravity, and Strangeways to name a few. Truckle also started a monthly cheese share subscription where for a monthly fee you could pick-up a box of cheese complete with tasting notes and pairing suggestions. And as of this week, you can find them full time at Blue Bee Cider! On November 19, as part of Virginia Cider Week, you can check out Cider & Cheese 101, a workshop that guides you through pairing the two with tickets at just $20-$25. Grab your friends and go indulge.
Scott’s Addition is getting yet another entertainment, we mean eatertainment, venue! What we previously thought would be a move to a bigger space for The Circuit Arcade Bar has actually become a whole new concept on it's own. This time it’s Slingshot Social Game Club and it opens this Friday offering ultimate bocce, super skeeball, and extreme duckpin! Pricing seems very reasonable to play and the idea is to create a social space where you can eat and enjoy a few drinks all while doing something interactive and social. Similar to The Circuit, Slingshot will offer self-serve taps. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)
Manchester wants in on the fun too! Rally, a forthcoming pickleball entertainment venue, is in the funding stages of development and the owners have big plans. Modeled after Chicken N Pickle in Kansas City, Rally would offer pickleball courts, dining, drinks, entertainment, and maybe even breakfast, fresh-pressed juices, and a cafe for wifi — suitable for popping up your laptop and responding to a few emails! They’ve got a long way to go but put this on your radar because apparently pickleball lives up to the hype. (Richmond BizSense)
