Hi, Insider readers! 👋
We hate to start with a downer, but you know as well as we do that these last few weeks have been — well, downers. We stay upbeat as best we can over here at The Richmond Experience, but with the national and local news headlines recently, it’s starting to feel like we’re at the beach to enjoy some sun, surf, and sand, but we keep getting knocked down by mf wave after wave!
So, we’re a little scuffed up — so to speak — and if you are, too, we feel you. We’re thinking of our RVA community and the country at large, as we all seem to be taking on some crushing waves these days.
But.
We’ll keep researching and rounding up and writing to keep you stocked up on “beach reads,” if you will (and if this comparison is working at all…?).
Sixty-one new RVAx members joined us this week, and we’re very psyched about that. (Hi, folks!) And speaking of members — new and old — The Richmond Experience donates a portion of each annual membership purchased to rotating nonprofits every month, and ReEstablish Richmond was on the calendar for our June donation. Because of you, our members, we were able to support the org’s mission to connect refugees and new immigrants to the resources needed to establish roots, build community, and become self-sufficient. THANK YOU ALL!
Okay, now. That light, easy-going, “beach read” material we mentioned. It’s coming right up. Take care of yourself, and take care of each other. Some beach weeks are duds, but there’ll be sun.
