Hello!👋
It’s crisp out there this week, huh? Making us feel very this, and we’re lovin’ it. Perfect, you know — don’t make us (me, Kelsey) say it — TS10 release week weather, right?!
But that’s not all (or, like, anything, if you’re not really a TS fan). ICYMI: We dropped a few very fall-y city guides to inspire you over the coming weeks. Get in some leaf peeping, finalize some plans for Halloween, maybe even schedule a day trip to C’ville? And you reserved your (bike) seat for our members-only cycle ride with BOHO Studios this Friday, yes? There are only a few spots left, so hit that link under “Happenings” below and defff snag yours now!
As for other ideas for how to spend your time? We’ve got some thoughts.
Keep scrolling for RVA’s latest social news, including a Union Hill block party, a new canned golf-themed cocktail company, a graveyard tour, and more.

RICHMONDER TO KNOW
Emmie Lewis: She’s the RVA Cheese Girl, who makes all our charcuterie dreams come true — including this Spooktacular Halloween Board, which would make us v interested in attending whatever party you’re bringing it to at the end of the month. (Plz invite us over.)
THE LATEST:
COMING UP
Freshen up your home and yourself: This weekend brings Richmonders some more days-long events. Friday through Sunday — October 21 through October 23 — the Richmond Home Show and the Richmond Tattoo Art & Music Festival are on at the Richmond Raceway and the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Richmond - Midlothian (respectively). Enjoy three days of home improvement tips and tricks, TV and radio personalities, artists, exhibitors, live music, and more — it’s three days, after all, you know? (Richmond Home Show, Richmond Tattoo Art & Music Festival)
Do it for the kids: Our friends at Blue Sky Fund are putting on their signature fall fundraiser — Hike for Kids. This Saturday, October 22, hike a three-, eight-, or 14-mile loop in the James River Park System. Then, cool down at the post-hike party with live music from The Hot Seats, food from Slideways Mobile Bistro, and beer from Väsen Brewing Company. Registration is $40 for adults and $15 for kiddos, and proceeds support the non-profit org’s mission to provide transformational experiences for urban youth through outdoor education. Sign up here, and we’ll see you there! (Blue Sky Fund)
Party on the Hill: Union Market is throwing a block party this Saturday, October 22. Head to the Union Hill spot for an afternoon of live music, delish food (including oysters, ow!), and thirst-quenching drinks to wash it all down. (Instagram)
Fancy that: Fancy Me Mad! returns to Historic St. John’s Church this weekend. On Saturday, October 22, the Church Hill landmark will host a graveyard tour, starting at 6:30 pm and featuring historical characters. Then, attendees can head inside the church for a reading with Edgar Allan Poe. Celebrate spooky season all while learning about Richmond’s early history as “a vibrant and violent cesspool, teeming with life and commerce, danger and daggers, sin and sanctity.” (Historic St. John’s Church)
Food and fashion: The Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia is hosting the Afro-Vegan Social this Saturday, October 22. This ~black tie~ event centers food and fashion with a backdrop of live music and community connection. Make your way to Jackson Ward from 5 to 9 pm that evening and enjoy dinner, mingling, shopping, and a fashion show. Some of our faves (1115 Mobile Kitchen, Philly Vegan, and Garnett’s, to name just a few) are contributing to the night’s menu, so you know our mouths are already watering over here. (For the Fem in You)
*CHEERS* TO THIS & THAT!
It’s doctor-recommended: Richmonder Dr. Turner Lewis got to work on his canned golf-themed cocktail during the pandemic, and it’s only grown from there. As Richmond BizSense recently reported, the doc’s product, Fore Craft Cocktails, is “now sold in dozens of Kroger and Giant grocery stores, all the Total Wine stores in Virginia, as well as at dozens of golf courses and country clubs, and smaller markets like Libbie Market and Yellow Umbrella in Richmond.” (Richmond BizSense)
A first birthday paw-ty to attend: One of our favorite spots in RVA turns one this month! Ruff Canine Club is celebrating its first year in biz on Saturday, October 29. Visit the puppy paradise for an aft of photo(booth) opps, a dog costume contest, free treats for the first 50 attending canines, live music, and giveaways. (Instagram)
