Hi, folks!👋

How’s your week going? We’re chugging along over here at The Richmond Experience (home) office(s) and truly *kent* believe the autumn-y events and to-dos we keep seeing pop up for this month. In fact, we were almost feeling a li’l FOMO, so we decided to throw our own bit of fun into the mix.

Peep your inbox — did you catch our invite to join us for a ride with BOHO Studios? They recently opened their new Cycle Studio, and we’re teaming up with them to help you (our oh-so-lovely members) get in a ~free~ sweat sesh there on Friday, October 21. Reserve your bike, and we’ll catch up with you in the Museum District soon!

Otherwise, we’ve also got loads of other fun things you should pack your next couple of weeks with.

Keep scrolling for RVA’s latest social news, including fall festivals to check out, two new cocktail bars coming to town, a great way to meet Richmond foodies, and more.

RICHMONDER(S) TO KNOW

John Gilliard and Sulaymaan Alkarriem: They’re the creative owners of Myselfies RVA, a spot in the Arts District that, as they recently told Venture Richmond, brings “a new opportunity for downtown visitors to explore art and creativity while being their own photographer.” Stop in with your friends or fam to check out the selfie gallery museum, and snap some pics in one of their 15 photobooths!

THE LATEST:

THE PARTY STARTS THURSDAY

Boos and brews times two: A couple of our favorite local breweries are hosting Boos and Brews events this month. This Thursday, October 13, through Saturday, October 15, head to Ashland Berry Farm to join Isley Brewing Company for a few days of pumpkin picking, terrifying haunts, cold ones, and fun for the whole fam. Then, on Saturday, October 29, keep the boos and brews going at Benchtop Craft Brewing for pumpkin carving while you sip on some delish booze. (Instagram, Instagram)

Fall festival fun: If you didn’t get your festival fill at Folk Fest last weekend, Saturday, October 15, features two more festivals to put on your cal. The Scott’s Addition Pumpkin Festival is back on Arthur Ashe Blvd from 12 to 6 pm for an afternoon of bands, food, vendors, and costume contest fun. And a few minutes down the road on Ownby Ln, Hardywood Park Craft Brewery will host its annual Richmond Bluegrass Festival from noon to 9:30 pm, featuring music, brews, and more good eats. (Scott’s Addition Pumpkin Festival, Facebook)

This sounds apple-solutely festive: Agecroft Hall & Gardens is hosting its Apples & Ales event this Sunday, October 16. Make your way to the sixteenth-century gem to enjoy an afternoon of sips from Garden Grove Brewing and Urban Winery and CYO picnics from The Broken Tulip. In addition to access to the spot’s campus, your tickets get you two beverage tickets. (Agecroft Hall & Gardens)

Yes, cheese: Luckiest Cheesemonger and The Kitchen Classroom are joining forces to host a cheese board building class this weekend. On Sunday, October 16, cheese expert Sara Adduci will teach attendees all the need-to-knows, “from cheese selection and cutting techniques to making salami roses and choosing the right accompaniments.” Tickets are 79 bucks and include an adult bev, meats and cheeses for snacking while you craft, and, of course, your finished masterpiece. STAY TUNED

From DC to RVA: Washington favorite Casta’s Rum Bar has plans to open a second location in the River City soon. The to-be-downtown spot will feature Havana-inspired eats — empanadas, Cuban sandwiches, ceviche, and more — and 125+ rum options. It was recently named Favorite Gathering Place at The 2022 RAMMYS, so we’re def psyched to make room for this Cuban-themed restaurant in our neck of the woods. (8News)

Green means go: The Jasper is bringing its new concept, The Emerald Lounge, to Union Hill in the coming months. With plans to open early next year, the new spot will feature tropical cocktails and a retro, island-y atmosphere. And patrons can expect a slushie machine and a food menu of tiny plates to accompany their tasty drinks. Between this addition, Slurp! Ramen, and Spotty Dog Ice Cream officially setting up shop in the same area, we’re about to be veryyy booked and busy. (Richmond magazine)
