Hey there!
Richmond is looking picturesque as we enter peak Fall foliage for the next eight days according to the Virginia Department of Forestry! Shout out to our official aerial photography partner, @creativedogmedia, for this stunning shot. If you’re starting to think about corporate, biz partners, or employee gifts consider licensing an image so you can print as many cards, framed photos, and beyond for the holiday season.
This week we’re giving you some updates on a few local businesses, a bar pop-up, and checking in on Richmond Restaurant Week. Plus some fresh city guides, another spooky giveaway, and a musical member perk!

SOCIAL NEWS
Welcome to Bar Muertos, The Jasper’s next pop=up! Bar Muertors is “neatly situated between this world and the afterlife, existing to honor the past and celebrate the future. Take a step past the ofrenda (offering) and follow the marigolds to discover a delicious array of beverages honoring the traditions and tastes of Mexican culture, friends and most importantly, family” writes the team behind the bar. Plan to visit between October 29-November 3 to celebrate Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead. If you want to incorporate authentic Mexican cuisine, check it out on Friday, November 2 or Saturday, November 3 for a bowl of Abuelita’s stew. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Immigrant Families Together, a foundation dedicated to reuniting and supporting immigrant families separated at the US/Mexico border and supporting border partners with critical needs. Cheers!
Sidebar: If you haven’t seen Pixar’s Coco it was one of the best cartoon movies we’ve seen in a long time and it’s all about Dia de los Muertos! If you find yourself on the couch looking for recommendation over the next two weeks, we highly recommend Coco.
There’s a new way to navigate parts of the city and this time it’s using 100% electric golf carts! You can’t call them like a traditional ride program and there is no app to locate them like you would a scooter but if you see a Tuk Tuk riding around you can just waive them down and they’ll pick you up! For $5 you can travel anywhere within their boundary map which covers Scott’s Addition, The Fan, Museum District, Arts District and even Downtown as far as Shockoe Slip.
Hardywood got some good news this last week according to this Richmond BizSense article! In the Spring, Hardywood announced their partnership with Joe Sparatta, co-owner of Heritage and Southbound, to open a restaurant within the brewery. Hardywood’s restaurant would be the only one within the 3,500-acre West Creek community and in addition to being a full-service restaurant, Sparatta and his team would provide catering to event hosts. Look for this to open in the Spring.

Got future reservations? We want to know where you are headed! You can view the full lineup of participants and their menus here which includes long-time participants like Acacia mid-town, the new-to-the-scene Alewife, casual spots like 23rd & Main or fancy dining at La Grotta and everything in between! Our local Ledbury store is headed to the big apple! Their flagship location is right here on Broad Street and they’ll be celebrating their 10th anniversary tomorrow! Since opening in 2009, the brand has built an active online presence and their clothing is available in several stores across the country. Their Manhattan store will be its third location! Speaking of Ledbury, did anyone else notice the guy from Bachelor in Paradise modeled for Ledbury? I’d like to point out that Sean made this observation and that it made him feel even more cool for his Ledbury model debut 🤣. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)
In continued local biz news, our favorite organic spa has been making moves! Scents of Serenity is gearing up to open a brand new location at West Broad Village with more treatment rooms and space — hello bachelorette parties, spa days, baby sprinkles, birthdays, etc.! If you’ve had the opportunity to visit their Grove Ave location since their renovations then you can imagine how serene and beautiful their brand new space will be. After securing the WBV space, Scents of Serenity closed their Mountain Road location and decided to open a temporary spa on Staples Mill Road. The location has done so well Melanie Mueller, owner, has decided to keep it! If you’re thinking of heading to the spa soon, remember members get 10% off all services and products using code: SOSRVAX! Look for their newest location to open in mid-November!
