Odd Bird
What it is: RVA’s newest home-goods store.
Why we love it: Odd Bird is your ticket to sourcing funky and eclectic home goods from a variety of artists across the globe. Here, you’ll find novelty items and furniture, as well as pantry items. So, if you’ve been scrolling Pinterest with a board dedicated to “dopamine decor,” your search ends when you walk in the door; Odd Bird promises an array of treasures that will not only capture your imagination but also elevate your personal space.
Where to find it: 320 Brook Rd (Jackson Ward)
Kendall Street Is For Lovers Tour
What it is: A residency-style tour from local (Charlottesville-based!) group Kendall Street Company.
Why we love it: Richmond’s favorite jam band is comin’ in hot with their third annual Kendall Street Is For Lovers Tour. If you haven't caught one of Kendall Street Company’s electrifying performances yet, don't miss out — this is the time to grab your tickets, stat! Each show sold out last year and a similar level of enthusiasm is expected again.
Blending traditional jam-band charisma and a bit of psychedelic funk, Kendall Street Company captivates audiences. They’ll be serving up head-bobbin’ jams with a few covers here and there, but the band never plays the same show twice, making each experience truly one-of-a-kind. Check out Kendall Street Company just about every Friday in February at The Broadberry, with their final show at The Camel.
Hot tip: Purchase physical tickets at Plan 9 Records or here.
Where to find it: 2729 W Broad St (The Fan) and 1621 W Broad St (The Fan)
Farm + Oak
What it is: Lindsey Food Group introduces a forward-thinking, Southern-table restaurant, derived from their sister restaurant, Lillie Pearl.
Why we love it: Here, you’ll find dishes with Southern ingredients inspired by global influences. Try their West Africa Shrimp & Grits featuring local grits, Obe Ata cream sauce, pork belly, and herb butter. Or, if you’re in the mood for something savory, check out their Braised Beef Short Ribs with mashed potatoes, collard greens, and roasted root veggies.
Where to find it: 3601 Cox Rd A (Short Pump)
Sushi Masa
What it is: A hibachi and AYCE sushi spot.
Why we love it: Sushi is one of those glorious foods that you can eat until you’re full without feeling like sh*t after. It’s (mostly) healthy and when it’s being served up AYCE (all you can eat!), what more can you ask for? Sushi Masa’s menu offers appetizers, salads, soups, hand-rolls, and specialty rolls for just one fixed price. If you choose hibachi, it's not all-you-can-eat, but your meal includes salad, soup, and your choice of fried rice or noodles, still providing ample satisfaction.
Where to find it: 8087 W Broad St (Henrico)
Perry's Steakhouse & Grille
What it is: An upscale steakhouse and grill serving a menu of chops, seafood, wine, and cocktails.
Why we love it: This gem combines the sophistication of a classic steakhouse with a diverse menu that includes premium chops, delectable seafood, and an extensive selection of drinks. With other locations elsewhere, they’ve got a rep for attention to detail, great service, and the thoughtfully curated wine and cocktail list.
Where to find it: 11788 W Broad St (Short Pump)
