Pelagos VR

What it is: A virtual reality bistro opening in the Regency shopping area

Why we love it: Pelagos VR is a retirement venture of Navy veteran Gene Burke, and we love a good origin story. Gene, the co-founder and owner, has been working hard on bringing the concept to life and looks to make the new spot a big part of the future of gaming. Expect high-tech equipment, escape rooms, food and drink options (like pizza cupcakes, Philly cheese-steak rolls, soft drinks, and adult bevs), and much more.

Where to find it: 1420 N Parham Rd (Regency)

What it is: A beloved Charlottesville coffee roaster that’s opened a new location in Jackson Ward

Why we love it: The couple-owned caffeine spot, led by John and Lynelle Lawrence, already has three locations in C-ville as well as one in Crozet, and we love just about anything our neighbors over there love. This new Richmond space serves coffee the company roasts itself in Charlottesville and also sells baked goods as well as bagel sammies.

Where to find it: 418 W Broad St (Downtown)

What it is: A new-American gastropub with a major following

Why we love it: The mouth-watering spot, which is opening its third location in the new Scott’s Walk development, features food items like Pimento Cheese Wontons, along with an entire menu for its Famous Weekend Brunch. Every update has our team saying, “!!!” And what more is there to say, really?

Where to find it: 3038 N Arthur Ashe Blvd (Scott’s Addition)

What it is: Your new go-to spot for sweet treats in Lakeside

Why we love it: By now, you know we love any and all ice cream over here, and when one pops up in a neighborhood we love just as much, you’ll catch us in line ASAP. This Lakeside shop specializes in gelato, hot and cold drinks, nut spreads and chocolates, and more. You might recognize the name and tasty goodness from the many pop-ups owner Layne Montgomery hosts around town.

Where to find it: 6931 Lakeside Ave (Lakeside)
