Sear Burger
What it is: An employee-driven burger concept
Why we love it: Sear Burger is a new concept by Soul Taco driven by employee ideas and recipes. Their menu offers gourmet burgers with scratch ingredients like smoked mushrooms (I’m drooling). When you stop in, try the “Crazy Ex from Texas” featuring an Impossible Burger with Ghost Jack, Smokey BBQ, Onion Straws, and Garlic Crisp.
Where to find it: 321 N 2nd Street (Jackson Ward)
Kismet Modern Indian
What it is: An Indian restaurant mixing traditional and new flavors
Why we love it: If you like Indian food, this is a can’t miss spot for an upscale ambiance and a delicious meal. You’ll find vegetarian, vegan, and meat options packed with flavor that you must taste to describe. Stop in and try the Saffron Paneer with their signature cocktail, Tiger’s Tail (must request tequila to add in).
In addition to their amazing food, the service is top-notch as well.
Where to find it: 2918 W Broad St (Museum District)
Uliveto
What it is: Italian cuisine featuring small plates and sips
Why we love it: Located in the former Secco space, Uliveto is quickly capturing the attention of foodies all over RVA. If you’re a seafood lover, you'll want to book a reservation. From grilled clams to pan-seared crispy salmon, their take on seafood dishes is inspired by the Mediterranean diet. Translation: healthy options emphasized by bold flavors.
You’ll find other signature menu items backed by the reputation of Gersi’s family recipes enjoyed for years.
Where to find it: 325 N. Robinson Street (The Fan)
Sprezza
What it is: Southern Italian food spot serving traditional Italian dishes
Why we love it: Attentive service, elegant and tasteful decor — Sprezza does a fantastic job of introducing southern Italian flavors to our community. Each course is presented beautifully, from the focaccia to the eggplant parm and dessert menu. Order a bottle of wine with your meal and sit back with your party to truly complete the Italian experience.
I recommend giving Sprezza Restaurant a try if you're seeking an Italian restaurant that will make your dining experience genuinely unique.
Where to find it: 111 Virginia St (Shockoe Slip)
Botanya
What it is: Spanish-Italian fusion fare
Why we love it: Rarely do you find fusion spots that truly blow it out of the water, but Botanya has outdone itself. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a welcoming environment and delicious aromas. Their menu is versatile, boasting small plate dishes that satisfy the taste buds and offer room for tasting.
Book a reservation for date night and see what all the hype is about.
Where to find it: 3314 W Cary St (Carytown)
Outside The Box
What it is: A whimsical gift shop located in Churchill
Why we love it: On the hunt for gifts just as unique as the person you’re shopping for? Look no further. Outside The Box offers an array of trinkets, oddities, and unexpected goodies that are sure to impress. Jewelry, specialty sauces, housewarming gifts, and seasonal gems await you.
Where to find it: 1001 N 25th St (Churchill)
