Rams House Bar + Kitchen
What it is: A VCU-themed bar and kitchen serving classic American fare
Why we love it: Sliders, pizza, handhelds, and salads — everything a college bar should have on its menu and more. Rams House is the newest restaurant to hit the scene on campus, and its offerings don’t leave much to be desired. With extensive signature pizza and local beer lists, this spot is sure to be popular among the growing student population in Richmond.
Where to find it: 2035 W Broad St (VCU)
Burtons Grill & Bar
What it is: Upscale restaurant offering from-scratch dishes with a nod to the spot’s New England roots.
Why we love it: With so many tasty dishes to choose from, Burton’s prides itself on a very simple motto: “Delight every guest.” From steaks to seafood, salads, and burgers, there’s something for everyone on their menu (which includes gluten-free and vegetarian options!). Attentive and friendly service; delicious, well-presenting plates; and craft cocktails — that’s what you can expect from a trip to this new spot in town.
Where to find it: 3520 W Cary St (Carytown)
Pure Green
What it is: Superfood smoothie spot with light eats to have on the side.
Why we love it: Looking for a nutrition-packed lunch or a light breakfast? Pure Green is where it’s at. Their made-to-order smoothies, juice, juice shots, and bowls offer the perfect serving of fruits and veggies. I recommend trying the Pure Green smoothie for a classic yet delicious treat on a hot day.
Where to find it: 3519 Ellwood Ave (Carytown)
Lost Letter + Young Mother
What it is: A ticketed event from the Italian eatery with a rotating seasonal menu and the *winning*-TV-star-chef-owned pop-up.
Why we love it: Take your tastebuds on a culinary journey through northern Italy with Longoven’s latest endeavor: Lost Letter. Featuring a few carefully crafted seafood and meat dishes, this restaurant is perfect for date night or dressing up with a few close friends. While a reservation isn’t a must, it’s recommended!
And speaking of reservations, definitely snag one for the spot’s summer collab with Young Mother: $75 per person (for food!), limited seating, 5 to 8:30 pm, drinks available from @insta_grayum and @jsingh121 and their extensive sake collection. Tickets are on sale at noon today, July 14!
Where to find it: 2939 W Clay St (Scott’s Addition)
Grit Coffee
What it is: Coffeehouse with espresso, sandwiches, and more.
Why we love it: Looking for a new WFH spot? Check out Grit Coffee, a new coffee shop located in Scott’s Addition. Offering your favorite coffee drinks like lattes, espresso, and cappuccino, this shop takes it a step further by offering unique flavor combos like honey lavender and honey vanilla hibiscus. Stop in for a cup of Joe next time you need to step away from your regular workstation.
Where to find it: 1601 Roseneath Rd (Scott’s Addition)
