Hello there!👋
Honestly, all we can really think about over here is the updated Canal Walk Murals. What about you?
ICYMI: The RVA Street Art Festival happened over the weekend, and the Canal Walk is now completely refreshed with a whole new splash of color.
We’re smitten; there’s fresh work from Hamilton Glass, Emily Herr, and a handful of other talented muralists. If you didn’t get a chance to pop by sometime Friday through Sunday, take advantage of the beautiful weather this week and go feast your eyes. (Maybe even actually feast, too — Casa Del Barco’s right there. Just sayin’.)
Then, when you’re ready to add some more plans to your calendar, pull this up on your phone again and get to schedulin’. We’ve got some good ideas for you to note.
Keep scrolling for RVA’s latest social news, including how to celebrate the last little bit of summer; a day-trip idea; another event from the folks who brought you Summer, Supper, Somm; and more.

The more you know: Maymont recently joined the Museums for All initiative — an Institute of Museum and Library Services effort that strives to make museums accessible to people of all backgrounds. Now nine museums and cultural attractions in the Richmond region participate in the program, in addition to Maymont: Agecroft Hall & Gardens, the American Civil War Museum, the Children’s Museum of Richmond, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, The Poe Museum, the Science Museum of Virginia, The Valentine, the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, and the Wilton House Museum. (Virginia Museum of History & Culture)
Speaking of Maymont: The 100-acre historic estate and park is hosting its Bier-Garden event this Friday and Saturday, September 23 and 24. The Bavarian-style festival will feature live music; yard games; fire pits; authentic Paulaner bier; local craft beer and cider; The Mayor Meats brats; and schnitzel, sauerkraut, pretzels, and more from Capital Ale House. Tickets are only 10 bucks! (Maymont)
Shopping around: We love any opp to spruce up our wardrobes with some local finds. And this Saturday, September 25, the Westhampton Party on the Avenues looks to make all our chunky-sweater+ dreams come true. Head to the heart of Westhampton on Libbie Avenue, from Patterson Ave to Guthrie Ave, for some food, craft beverages, local vendors, and family-friendly entertainment, and don’t forget to pop into some of our Westhampton favorites while you’re out there: K|LA Boutique, Nellie George, and Jack Brown’s.
